Our aim is to keep flying affordable and attainable for the enthusiast and aspiring professional pilot. Since we began many career pilots have trained with us. Many are now flying professionally, and several are still with us as instructors.          Requirements for the Helicopter Private Pilot Licence. The Irish Aviation Authority (IAA) requirements for the issue of a PPL(H) are: A minimum of 45 hours as pilot of helicopters is required, of which 10 hours must be solo. Two solo cross country flights are required one of which must be at least 100 nautical miles with landings at two independent aerodromes. Rates are €350 per flying hour for the Robinson R22 and €500 per flying hour for the Robinson R44.          Students must pass a medical examination performed by a GP approved by the IAA. A listing of the approved Doctors is available at this office. Ground school is carried out in our classroom at Weston, involving video and instructor lectures. At present these classes are held two evenings a week. All required books may be purchased through the school. You must pass the IAA exams in the following subjects (all covered in the ground school) 1. Air Law 2. Aircraft General Knowledge and Principles of Flight 3. Flight Performance and Planning, Navigation and Meteorology and Operating Procedures 4. Human Performance and Limitations 5. Tech Type If you have any questions please do not hesitate to contact us.
